US tennis legend John McEnroe has left Australia with a bang, telling a young Aussie teen to ‘go f*** yourself’ in yet another volatile meltdown.

The 66-year-old won seven Grand Slams during his career, but also forged a reputation as a hothead who loved to blow up at umpires, opponents, fans and his own tennis racquets.

Now he has been filmed blowing up at a persistent teenage fan who wanted a photo and his autograph.

The tennis great has been in the country as a commentator for the Australian Open, and was heading home when the incident happened.

In the video, McEnroe emerged from a car at Melbourne Airport with his luggage and a guitar strapped to his back, when the boy seized the opportunity to meet his tennis idol.

‘Not right now mate,’ McEnroe said, looking like he was in a rush.

John McEnroe had arrived at Melbourne Airport ready to head back home to the United States when the teenager asked him for a photo

But the boy wasn’t willing to give up, asking ‘can I get a photo?’

He told McEnroe he was one of his ‘heroes’ and even offered to help carry some of his bags.

‘I’m going to need you to stay away from me, OK?’ McEnroe said in response, heading into the terminal.

But the young Aussie followed him into the terminal as McEnroe’s staff began to get involved.

‘This guy, just get away,’ McEnroe snapped.

‘Move him out of the way please,’ an official wearing a lanyard said.

But the boy kept on persisting.

‘Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, I am leaving, time’s up,’ McEnroe said to him.

Officials needed to step in to separate McEnroe and the young fan as the situation escalated

The fan then decided to try and get a selfie with the tennis star with or without his permission.

‘Leave him alone,’ an unknown man told him.

‘Respect our space,’ another said.

‘Can I just take a photo?’ the boy pleaded.

McEnroe clearly had enough of being patient.

‘Will you stop?’ he yelled.

‘Stop! Jesus. I mean, are you kidding me?’ he added, using the same line he delivered during his most famous on-court meltdown at Wimbledon in 1981.

A clearly exasperated McEnroe then told the young Aussie to ‘go f*** yourself’.

McEnroe is famous for his volcanic temper.

At the 1984 Australian Open, McEnroe was defaulted from a match after abusing officials and smashing his racquet repeatedly.

He clashed constantly with umpires at the US Open, where he racked up record fines for verbal tirades and code violations.

During the 1987 Stockholm Open, he was defaulted again after threatening an official during a heated argument.

McEnroe’s temper also spilled into Davis Cup ties, where his confrontations with referees embarrassed officials but fired up crowds.

Even in victories, he often berated himself loudly, slamming racquets and muttering insults between points.
