Scotland’s Rachel Robertson HAS succeeded in earning a spot on the F1 Academy’s Rookie Test drive, a huge step towards her achieving her dream of becoming a Formula 1 driver.
The 18-year-old will now line up against 17 other hopefuls later this month as they look to secure a coveted spot in the prestigious driving Academy.
The organisation, led by Scotland’s Susie Wolff, focuses on developing and preparing young female drivers to progress to higher levels of competition – with Formula 1 the ultimate goal.
Robertson told Daily Mail Sport she was thrilled to be included in the line-up for the Test, which takes place between 16-18 September at the Circuito de Navarra.
‘Being one of only 18 girls selected to take part, after only two F4 test days, is just incredible,’ said Robertson.

Robertson has taken a step closer to achieving her dream of becoming a F1 driver
‘I am so proud of myself that I’ve made my mark in such a short time, and that it has paid off.
‘I’ll be testing, meeting current F1 Academy drivers, undergoing a fitness assessment, and doing a full test day. I can’t wait to get started!’
Robertson’s achievement is made all the more remarkable by the fact she has only competed in motorsport since 2022.
In the space of just three short years, she has progressed from complete novice, to testing Formula 4 cars, and is now being backed by TV presenter Gabby Logan, as a talent for the future.
Logan, who’s married to former Scotland rugby international, Kenny, has awarded Robertson her first ‘Gabby Grant’; a sum of money given to a female athlete who’s just starting out, and who can benefit from financial assistance.
