Taylor Swift cheered on the New York Knicks as they completed a historic comeback against the San Antonio Spurs in the NBA Finals – with some crediting her for breaking Donald Trump’s ‘curse’.
The Knicks took a 3-1 lead in the series with a 107-106 victory over the Spurs, sealing the win with 1.2 seconds to go after being 29 points down.
It was the largest comeback in NBA Finals history and it means they are just one win away from claiming the title in the best-of-seven series.
Donald Trump had attended the third match, which the Spurs won 115-111 to snap the Knicks’ 13-game winning streak, leading some to think the president was carrying a ‘curse’. ‘Ya just haaaaaaad to invite trumpty dumpty,’ wrote Saturday Night Live star Michael Che on Instagram.
The Republican chieftain had been booed during the national anthem at Madison Square Garden, though he later described the atmosphere as ‘mostly cheers’.
Swift, decked out in her blue and orange ‘Stevie Knicks’ tee-shirt, therefore marked something of a contrast as she attended alongside singer sisters Este and Alana Haim.

The pop superstar was overjoyed as the Manhattan outfit surged to a late 107-106 victory
Swift is believed to be getting married to NFL sta Travis Kelce in the same arena next month
The Love Story hitmaker sat courtside and regularly rose to cheer and clap as the Knicks roared to a momentous comeback.
It has been 27 years since the Manhattan outfit reached the Finals, and they last won the title back in 1973.
Some supporters were so superstitious of the ‘curse’ supposedly brought by Trump that they lit sage on fire outside the arena to cleanse it.
Swift brought a welcome levity to the occasion and, after the match was over, celebrated with the Haim sisters as well as long-time Law & Order actress Mariska Hargitay.
She might as well acquaint herself with the arena as she is rumoured to be marrying NFL star Travis Kelce there next month.
An insider told the Daily Mail last week that the couple will tie the knot inside the famous arena on July 3, after deciding to ’embrace the spectacle’ of a giant wedding.
The source also dished to the Daily Mail that the superstar couple were considering Casa Cipriani as a potential wedding venue prior to settling on MSG.
Before the game, the superstar spoke to fans and posed for photos as she took in the atmosphere near her courtside seats.
Donald Trump was thought to have ‘cursed’ the Knicks as he watched them suffer a rare defea in the game prior
Swift brought a more upbeat vibe to the occasion with her blue and orange tee-shirt
The Daily Mail has spoken to an expert lipreader to get the lowdown on what exactly Swift was chatting about, and it revealed a huge ‘regret’ for her man, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Kelce.
With a huge crowd surrounding her, Swift looked at ease as she took selfies with two fans, before a man in the second row grabs her attention and says something. She quickly responds ‘thank you so much’, before the conversation seemingly moves to Kelce’s absence.
The NFL star is currently in mandatory minicamp preparing for his 14th season in the league, meaning he was unable to hot-foot it to NYC to watch the game with his soon-to-be-wife.
It appears to be a decision he was not entirely happy about, after Swift responded to a question on Travis by saying: ‘It’s such a shame… he really wanted to come!’
The pair have attended NBA games in courtside seats together in the past, but it’s fair to say that nothing could rival the atmosphere in the Garden on Wednesday night – even if she was seated only feet away from Sydney Sweeney and her nemesis Scooter Braun, the actress’ boyfriend. She also had an encounter with Kylie Jenner.
