Taco Bell is rumored to be bringing back its crispy chicken menu later this month for a limited time, sparking mixed reactions online.
The popular Tex-Mex fast food chain has been testing crispy chicken recipes for years, finally debuting its crispy chicken nuggets nationwide in December 2024. Following the success of the nuggets, it expanded its crispy chicken lineup in June 2025 with burritos, tacos and standalone strips, which were discontinued this past January.
However, according to popular Instagram food influencer @markie_devo, the restaurant is supposedly bringing back its standalone crispy chicken strips, crispy chicken avocado ranch meal and pineapple freeze July 23.
Posting a self-made graphic of the expected July menu, featuring the returning specials and new menu items: pepper jack steak burritos, pepper jack steak nacho fries and crispy chicken chipotle bacon melt burrito, @markie_devo wrote, “Yess!! Crispy Chicken is back!!”
He added, “This menu is speculated to drop on July 23rd at Taco Bell locations nationwide for a limited time.”
The menu has not been confirmed by Taco Bell, but its website currently states: “Crispy is coming soon. Crispy Chicken is not available right now. Check back soon for updates!”
The Independent has contacted Taco Bell for comment.
The speculations have been met with resistance from some fast-food lovers, who have grown tired of the increasing popularity of chicken-based offerings across major chains.
“Can we stop with all the chicken options please,” one person commented on Instagram. “Just for a minute. Thanks.”
“Enough with the chicken and fries,” a second demanded. “If you wanna be KFC, change your name to f****** KFC.”
A third similarly echoed, “Taco Bell needs to chill with the f****** chicken. This isn’t Chick-fil-A.”
“How about bringing back all the old menu items you have the ingredients for already,” another begged.
One person, meanwhile, touted Taco Bell’s crispy chicken as “the best.” “I think it’s because they use the tortilla coating but it’s never soggy always got a good crunch and a moist inside,” they noted.
“I missed the crispy chicken tacos so much yassssss,” a second celebrated, while a third huffed, “Took them along enough.”
Earlier this month, Taco Bell announced it would remove some fresh ingredients from its menu items amid a parasite outbreak that causes explosive, watery diarrhea, as it spreads rapidly across the country.
“We are currently unable to sell Lettuce, Cilantro, Onion, Pico de Gallo and Guacamole due to a nationwide recall,” notices outside Taco Bell locations in Detroit, Michigan, read.
“We apologize for the inconvenience. Any items ordered that normally come with these items WILL NOT contain them.”
