Watch as firefighters in Italy rescue a young wolf that had fallen into a canal near Verona.

Footage shared by Vigili del Fuoco on Wednesday (4 March) shows emergency workers coming to the assistance of the animal, who had taken refuge underneath a footbridge after being unable to climb back up due to the slippery banks.

The female wolf was sedated and firefighters transported her in a dinghy back to land, where she was looked over by veterinarians. She is expected to be released back into the wild, authorities said.
