Film director Spike Lee received the “Pope” mobile treatment in Brooklyn after the New York Knicks won a second game against the San Antonio Spurs in the NBA finals.
The Knicks beat the Spurs 105-104 Friday (6 June), giving them a 2-0 lead in the championship series.
Lee, widely known for being a superfan of the New York basketball team, was filmed waving to fans out of the sunroof of his car in Fort Greene, Brooklyn, following the game. Crowds cheered and sang as he slowly passed through the neighborhood.
One fan noted on social media: “They’re parading Spike Lee around Fort Greene post-Knicks win like he’s the Pope.”
The Knicks will face the Spurs for Game 3 on Monday (8 June) at Madison Square Garden.
