Socceroos fans have gone viral for singing a chant about Donald Trump being a ‘sex offender’ at the World Cup.

Vision of the chant was taken after the team’s stunning win over Turkey in Vancouver, with hundreds of Aussie supporters shown taking up the cry.

The fans begin by singing, ‘Da da da da da da da da da da da/Turkey’s in the bin/In the bin, Turkey’s in the bin!’ to the tune of Give It Up by KC and the Sunshine Band as they march through the Canadian city.

They then switch to, ‘Aussie boys are on a bender/Donald Trump’s a sex offender.’

The original video on TikTok has been liked almost 90,000 times with more than 13,000 shares, and reposts on Instagram and X have won about 6000 more likes.

The US President was accused of sexual assault by writer E. Jean Carroll. She won a $5million civil judgement against Trump in May 2023.

However, Trump has never been criminally prosecuted for any sex offence and he denied that the encounter with Carroll ever took place.

Football fans – many of them Americans – gave the chant the thumbs-up despite its controversial nature as the Socceroos prepare for their grudge match with the USA on Saturday morning, Australian time.

‘Most patriotic I’ve ever felt,’ one Aussie wrote.

‘Can y’all please sing that second one on Friday? Loudly? Asking as an American,’ another commenter said.

‘I can’t wait to hear that when we win against the USA,’ added a third.

‘This is the type of video that makes me proud to be an Australian,’ a Socceroos fan said.

The video continues to rack up views as the Socceroos’ match against the USMNT shapes as one of the most heated clashes in the World Cup so far.

Former US football star turned TV pundit Mike Grella has been a big driver of the growing tension between the two countries when it comes to the World Cup, with his repeated slamming of the Socceroos seeing him branded ‘the most hated man in Australia’.

He has claimed Australia will be a ‘lay-up’ for the USA in their group stage match, before stating the men from down under aren’t good enough to do anything notable at the tournament.

That saw him slammed by Aussie fans and even Socceroos legend Harry Kewell, who took his criticism a step further and blasted what the USA has achieved as a football nation.

Grella then doubled down on his insults on a new podcast.

‘I was gonna come on here originally and say some nice stuff about them, but now the fan base has gone a little too far,’ Grella told The Pat McAfee Show.

‘I started this conversation, and it was birthed about the football.

‘The messages I’m getting from the Australia fanbase is about the country, about us as a country. It’s been unbelievable.

‘They wear a yellow shirt. I think that maybe they’re getting themselves confused with Brazil, or another team that’s won something in the past.

‘They’ve never won anything. I look up what Australians are good at. I see cricket, I see rugby, maybe the outback. I’m sure they’ve got some wild safaris out there.

‘I’ve played with Australian guys in the past, legends of the game. I love Australians. I don’t think I’ve ever met a soft Australian. They’re tough, right?

‘But I tell you one thing they are: insecure. Insecure about football and insecure about Friday [the match against the USMNT] because I think they’re in for a rude awakening.’
