Sri Lanka Taxi Charter Service International Limited (SLTCS Ltd.) has introduced a new personalised car-and-driver charter service aimed at travellers from Europe seeking a comfortable and organised way to explore Sri Lanka.
The service provides access to government-licensed Tourist Drivers and air-conditioned private vehicles, offering flexible scheduling and direct travel between destinations. Travellers receive a written quotation before confirming, and each charter is matched to group size and itinerary length to ensure suitability and convenience.
“Building on our proven track record serving Japanese travelers, we are entering the United Kingdom market. By providing licensed tour drivers who meet the exacting standards of Japanese guests, we will make a trip to Sri Lanka exceptional.” said a SLTCS spokesperson.
English-speaking drivers are included as standard, with other language options available for those who require them, including Japanese upon request.
Guests may select from sedans for individuals and couples, mid-sized vans for families, and larger vans for groups of up to nine people, all with air-conditioning. Child seats can be provided when age and size information is shared in advance.
The booking process is designed to be simple. Travellers send an initial enquiry with dates and group size, receive a customised route and clear cost breakdown, and confirm to secure a driver. Before the trip begins, SLTCS provides the driver’s name, contact details and vehicle information, typically shared via WhatsApp, to support smooth arrival coordination.
SLTCS positions its pricing to offer strong value, noting that its service targets rates typically around 30% below the cost of similar arrangements made through large travel agencies, with exact quotes produced individually.
Peak travel season in Sri Lanka runs from December through March, and travellers are encouraged to enquire ahead of time. Due to current demand levels, charters of fewer than four days are not being accepted.
The payment system separates the Agency Service Fee, paid securely online, from the Driver Fare, which is settled directly with the driver, usually in Sri Lankan Rupees. SLTCS acts as the coordinating intermediary, while the contract for transport is formed between the traveller and the driver. Refund conditions for the Agency Service Fee are straightforward: full refund up to seven days before departure; non-refundable within six days.
The charter service provides more than transportation. Drivers help adjust daily timings, plan rest stops, purchase entry tickets and adapt routes depending on weather and traveller energy levels.
If a deeper guided experience is desired, SLTCS can arrange licensed site or national guides. Activities such as safaris, whale watching and Ayurveda treatments can be integrated into itineraries, with tickets settled directly with trusted operators.
The service also accommodates business trips, offering coordinated multi-city travel and invoices upon request.
For late-night flight arrivals, SLTCS advises the safest travel option on a case-by-case basis, whether that is an overnight stay near the airport or a direct transfer, with any cost differences outlined clearly.
