Businesses across Shropshire are being encouraged to take advantage of a wide-ranging programme of free support, workshops and networking events this autumn, designed to help local enterprises grow, connect and thrive.
The Shropshire Growth Hub’s programmes and delivery are made possible through external funding from government contracts and grants. This funding means it can provide free support, energy advice, training, and events for start-ups, SMEs, and community organisations.

One of its most popular initiatives is Business Boost 360, which provides six hours of expert guidance for eligible businesses within the Shropshire Council Local Authority area. Since the programme started in 2024, nearly 400 businesses have accessed the programme.
Emma Chapman, Shropshire Growth Hub manager, said:
“This has proved to be one of our most effective programmes with businesses able to get 1-2-1 tailored support from experts. We still have some spaces left but urge businesses to register their interest promptly by contacting the Growth Hub.”
Also available is the Business Energy Advice Service (BEAS), a pilot scheme offering free energy assessments and match-funded grants of up to £100,000. The initiative aims to help businesses reduce energy costs and carbon emissions while improving operational efficiency.
For those looking to build or refresh their skills, a series of workshops are scheduled throughout the coming months. These include Build Your Business: Key Steps to Start-up Success on 30 September, and two Canva design workshops – a beginner-level Canva Masterclass (7 October) and an advanced session (14 October). Both are ideal for businesses wanting to enhance their in-house creative capabilities.
Community enterprises, co-operatives and mutuals can also access free one-to-one and group support from RN Consulting & Associates Ltd, covering governance, funding strategy, and stakeholder engagement.
Networking also remains a key focus, with the newly-launched Shropshire Business Coffee Mornings offering relaxed opportunities to meet other local businesses.
The Shropshire Growth Hub is also encouraging businesses to attend the Connecting Business Expo on 16 October at Shrewsbury Town Football Club. Organised by the Shropshire Chamber, this promises a vibrant showcase of local businesses, suppliers and services.
