Jarrell Miller finally lived out his Madison Square Garden dream on Saturday night, defeating Kingsley Ibeh via split decision at boxing’s most iconic venue.

However, the defining moment of the fight came in the second round when Ibeh quite literally punched the wig off Miller’s head.

The two were locked in a close exchange near the end of the round when Ibeh landed a sharp right hand that dislodged Miller’s hairpiece.

The crowd went crazy as it flapped loose, instantly stealing the spotlight.

Back in his corner, Miller was made aware of what had happened. When he rose for the third round, he turned to face the crowd, grabbed the hairpiece, ripped it off, and flung it into the stands – tongue out, laughing – before heading back into the fight

To make the whole thing funnier, the wig landed in front of heavyweight champion Fabio Wardley, before Skye Nicolson picked it up and posed with the hair piece.

Jarrell Miller suffered an embarrassing moment during his fight on Saturday night

Speaking after the fight, Miller said he had used his mother’s shampoo two days before the fight without realising it was hair removal cream.

Miller (26-1-2, 22 KOs) was stepping into the ring for the first time since his gritty majority draw with Andy Ruiz Jr. in August 2024.

That outing followed the first defeat of his professional career, a 10th-round TKO loss to Daniel Dubois in December 2023. For Miller, this fight represented both a return and a reset.

Across the ring stood a dangerous and in-form opponent. Ibeh (16-2-1, 14 KOs) entered the bout riding an 11-fight winning streak and had been active throughout 2025, most recently stopping former world title challenger Gerald Washington via third-round TKO last September. On paper, it was a legitimate test and one Miller insisted he needed.

In the build-up, Miller was clear about his intentions. He wanted to make a statement, not only to the heavyweight division but to himself.

Nearly six years after missing out on a lucrative showdown with Anthony Joshua at Madison Square Garden due to a failed drugs test, this night carried personal significance.

And while it wasn’t Joshua standing opposite him, Miller celebrated as if it were.

Speaking in the ring afterward, Miller made no attempt to hide his ambitions. He said he wants to jump straight back into the heavyweight picture and challenge the biggest names available after returning to the gym.

That intent appeared genuine just a day earlier, when Miller was spotted chatting with Derek Chisora at the Teofimo Lopez vs. Shakur Stevenson weigh-in on Friday.

Chisora, who is scheduled to face Deontay Wilder at the O2 Arena on April 11, joked that Miller could ‘get it next,’ before later clarifying that the Wilder bout will be his final fight as he reaches his long-stated goal of 50 professional contests.

Whether that conversation leads anywhere remains to be seen – but for Jarrell Miller, the message was unmistakable. His Madison Square Garden chapter is no longer a missed opportunity. It’s finally written.
