A murder investigation has been launched after a man was shot dead in Sheffield.
Emergency services were called to Watery Street, near the junction with St Philip’s Road, in the city’s Upperthorpe area, just after 22:00 BST on Tuesday.
A 32-year-old man was taken to hospital where he later died, South Yorkshire Police said. His family is being supported by officers.
Det Ch Insp Ben Wood said: “This is a devastating incident which has cut short a young man’s life and will no doubt cause considerable concern in the local community.”
A large police scene remains in place in Watery Street between its junctions with Meadow Street and Montgomery Terrace Road.
Additional patrols would also be carried out in the area, police said.
Det Ch Insp Wood, who is the senior investigating officer for this case, said: “Thank you to those who have already provided information to our investigative team.
“If you know something that could help us but are yet to get in touch, then I would urge you to please contact us.”
Police are appealing for anyone with relevant information, CCTV, doorbell or dashcam footage to get in touch.
