Seven men and a teenager have pleaded guilty to violent disorder in Newport city centre.
The defendants, aged between 17 and 52, all from Newport admitted the charge at Cardiff Crown Court.
A previous hearing was told there were “large-scale violent outbreaks” following “a dispute between two families”.
Gwent Police were called to reports of men seen fighting on Commercial Road in the Pill area of the city on Friday 1 August.
Four men were taken to hospital after the incident.
The seven men who admitted using or threatening unlawful violence with others present, causing those who were present to fear for their safety were:
- Mehmet Aksoy, 52
- Mazhar Aksoy, 40
- Murat Aksoy, 28
- Burak Aksoy, 25
- Savas Sayak, 33
- Yagmur Sayak, 42
- Firat Sayak, 45
A 17-year-old who cannot be named due to legal reasons also admitted the charge. All the defendants were aided by an interpreter in court.
The adult defendants were remanded in custody, the youth defendant was released on bail and ordered not to attend Commercial Road.
They are all due to be sentenced at Cardiff Crown Court in November.
