Former Las Vegas Raiders star wide receiver Henry Ruggs III has been denied parole almost five years after he killed a woman and her dog in a high-speed car crash.
Ruggs was denied the chance to get out of prison early by the Nevada Board of Parole Commissioners on Thursday.
The former first-round draft pick was taken into custody on November 2, 2021 after driving his sports car at speeds up to 156 mph in the city.
He then crashed into a car belonging to 23-year-old Tina Tintor at 127mph. Tintor and her dog, Max, subsequently died after her car burst into flames.
Ruggs and his girlfriend were seen drinking at a TopGolf location on the Las Vegas strip in the hours before the crash.
After refusing to take a field sobriety test, a blood test taken two hours later revealed Ruggs’ blood alcohol content to be .161 – more than twice the legal limit in Nevada.

Ruggs was hoping to be granted a parole that would see him released from prison in early August.
He is said to have petitioned to the Board of Parole to grant him ‘the privilege of parole so I can prove myself to everyone.’
‘Not a minute goes by where I don’t think of the pain I caused her family, her friends and the Las Vegas community,’ Ruggs said in video obtained by News 3 LV. ‘I’m a religious person and pray for her family daily.’
Ruggs is currently being held at Northern Nevada Correctional Center, a medium-security prison in the state capitol of Carson City. He was previously being held at Casa Grande Transitional Center, KLAS says.
The 26-year-old was sentenced to three-to-ten years in prison in August of 2023 after pleading guilty to driving under the influence and vehicular manslaughter.
Ruggs was a standout for Alabama who recorded 1,716 yards and 24 touchdowns on just 98 receptions over a three-year period in Tuscaloosa before declaring for the 2020 NFL Draft.
After impressing with the Crimson Tide, Ruggs was drafted by the Raiders in the first round of the draft in 2020 and put up 921 receiving yards and four touchdowns in his sole NFL season.
