Sandford Hall Bridge – which carries the C1040 over an unnamed water course near Knockin – will be closed from 10 August to 4 September [2026] for repair work.
The works includes installing a concrete lined invert, painting of the exiting Armco, rebuilding a collapsed headwall and the replacement of the timber parapets.
To carry out the proposed work safely it will be necessary to close the bridge to vehicular traffic. The closure will be in force 24/7.
When the road is closed, traffic will be diverted by a signed diversion route. For more information, please visit https://one.network/?GB151457153
Access over the bridge for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will not be available throughout the work, and access to frontages will be maintained up to the bridge closure.
The work will be carried out by Shropshire Council’s term maintenance contractor Kier, with supervision being provided by WSP on behalf of Shropshire Council.
Advance notice signs will be erected at the bridge and an information letter delivered to local properties.
