- Zayn and Owens were branded the most difficult to work with by an ex-WWE star
- Earlier, the former champion hinted at a highly anticipated return to the company
- The 39-year-old superstar saw his departure from WWE in September 2023
A former WWE champion has named Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens the most difficult stars to work with.
The star gave a rare interview following his exit from the company in September 2023 after he claimed an officer at JFK airport sexually assaulted him before swiftly deleting the post.
He joined WWE in 2018, playing a huge role in developing the NXT brand, holding the NXT Tag Team Championship with Pete Dunner as ‘The BroserWeights’.
Matt Riddle then followed his move to the main roster in May 2020, where he ultimately claimed the United States Championship in February of the next year.
When quizzed about who his most challenging opponent in the ring was, the former WWE star replied with a confident answer.
‘I would have to say Sheamus. Sheamus, easy to work with, hits really hard,’ said Riddle on News4JAX.

Riddle, 39, is the reigning MLW World Heavyweight champion after he was linked to the company for several months

‘So hardest in the ring. But, then when I think about who’s harder to maybe work with, I would have to say Sami Zayn or Kevin Owens…
‘It’s hard to put a complete sentence together with those guys if you know what I’m saying… Very difficult. Sheamus hits ya hard, but it’s easy to put together.’
Riddle had an eminent career in WWE, making a name for himself in a tag team with Randy Orton, which was split up when Orton suffered a serious back injury in 2022.
Since his release, he has gone on to wrestle the likes of MLW and has established himself as one of the company’s top stars.
His former career involved a stint in the UFC between 2008 and 2013, where he won six of his 10 fights, with another victory being overturned after he tested positive for cannabis.
In a recent interview, Riddle admitted that he was his own worst enemy while in WWE.
However, on Monday, the former WWE superstar called out Bill Goldberg once again.
‘Dude, Willie G is how I like to refer to him. Willie G, you’re in your mansion in Texas,’ he said. ‘You’re in your mansion in Texas, and your bank account is definitely way bigger than mine, especially now since I’ve been fired.
‘But let’s be real, bro – at the end of the day, I’d whoop that a** 10 times out of 10, maybe even 11 times out of 10. You know it, your kids know it, your family knows it, the universe knows it.’
