Rory McIlroy has lifted the lid on how he got his shock cameo in The Devil Wears Prada 2 and explained how wife Erica Stoll jumped at the chance to be in the movie.
The back-to-back Masters champion has shocked audiences in recent days by cropping up in the highly-popular sequel to the fashion flick starring Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci.
The couple can be seen on screen for around 10 to 15 seconds mid-movie as they mingle with guests at a lavish Met Gala-style party.
McIlroy and Stoll are among a star-studded list of cameos, including the likes of Lady Gaga, Donatella Versace, Heidi Klum, Naomi Campbell and Karl-Anthony Towns.
But, speaking to Travis Kelce and his brother Jason on the latest episode of New Heights, McIlroy revealed he actually talked the part into existence himself.
He said: ‘I am not a movie star. If you watch me act, you can tell I am not a movie star. The Devil Wears Prada thing was so random.

McIlroy asked wife Erica Stoll if he should do it and then managed to get her a part as well
‘I won The Players’ Championship last year and they asked me afterwards ‘what did you do last night to prepare?’
‘I said ‘I had dinner and got back to the room and watched The Devil Wears Prada.
‘The director, David Frankel, somehow got wind of it and his son is actually a really, really good player and trying to make it as a pro at the minute – he’s playing golf, I think at Stanford.
‘So the team reached out and said ‘he was wondering if you would do some sort of cameo’ and I said to my wife Erica ‘what do you think?’ and she’s like ‘yeah, absolutely’.
‘Then I text back and asked ‘do you think Erica could be in it too?’ and they said ‘sure, bring her along’. So we spent the day in New York and did it.
‘It was an unbelievable experience but yeah, I have a day job. It’s cool to be able to do these things and experience being on a movie set but I am not cut out for that. It’s long days, it’s a grind. It really is.’
During the European premiere of the movie in London, Frankel raved about McIlroy’s part.
‘Well, the one I was most excited for will surprise isn’t even in the world of fashion. I mean I loved having Rory McIlroy,’ he said. ‘He was a great sport. A very good actor.’
