Footage from the scene shows thick smoke rising moments before the structure gave way, scattering debris and knocking over a bystander nearby.
Crews had been responding to a blaze at a convenience store on East 22nd Street on Friday (23 May), when the roof caved in, forcing a rapid switch to defensive tactics. No injuries were reported.
