World No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz has confirmed he is set to celebrate his maiden Australian Open victory with a tattoo of a kangaroo.
The 22-year-old Spaniard became the youngest winner of the career grand slam, after defeating 24-time major winner Novak Djokovic in the Australian Open final.
His four set victory, in front of a packed out Rod Laver Arena crowd, bookended a remarkable two weeks.
But he has now explained he’ll celebrate the incredible achievement by inking a kangaroo on his leg, just like he planned on doing if he won the event last year.
‘I say it’s going to be a kangaroo for sure. A little kangaroo,’ Alcaraz told reporters.
The Spaniard has a tradition of inking his body after major title wins across the world, so this will not be a surprise to his legion of fans.

‘It’s going to be on the leg for sure. I don’t know right or left one,’ he added.
‘I got to choose a good spot but it’s going to be close to the French Open or Wimbledon, I have to choose.’
The now seven-time major champion did it the hard way.
He had to recover after being dominated by his 38–year-old opponent in the first set.
After losing the opener 2-6, he bounced back to win the next three sets to the tune of 6-2 6-3 7-5.
Alcaraz now has a 3-0 record against Novak Djokovic in major event finals.
He has become the first player to defeat the Serbian legend in an Australian Open championship match.
The World No. 1 also surpassed Don Budge as the youngest man ever man to win all four majors.

It comes as his veteran opponent Novak Djokovic has won over fans yet again.
The 24-time major champion gained even more respect from the tennis world after defeating World No.2 Jannik Sinner in the semi-finals.
But he’s also acquired admiration for his classy display in the post-match ceremony following his first Australian Open Final defeat.
Djokovic praised his younger opponent, while also paying tribute to long-time rival Rafael Nadal, who was in attendance at Rod Laver Arena for the decider.
