Danny Rohl insists he has been given assurances about his future by the Rangers board amid fans’ anger about the club’s post-split capitulation.

The Light Blues have suffered three-successive defeats for the first time since 2000 and are guaranteed to finish third in the Premiership, while Celtic, who beat their Old Firm rivals 3-1 on Sunday, and leaders Hearts fight for the title.

It is another trophyless campaign for the Govan club — who end another fruitless league campaign by hosting Hibernian this evening before their trip to Falkirk on Saturday — and many supporters want the German coach, who took the reins in October, replaced for the new season.

Rohl insisted there was ‘no question’ about him still being in situ after the summer and, when asked outright if he had been given assurance by chairman Andrew Cavenagh and the rest of the Ibrox board, he said: ‘Yes.

‘I think the last 48 hours, there was unbelievable support from the board. Everyone around me sees a lot of positive things, but we are also critical of ourselves. I think there’s no question mark.

‘The most important thing is what I have said many times, we have to take all the information and what we need into the new season.

‘I think you can imagine, with (James) Tav (Tavernier, who is leaving after 11 years), we lose the captain and this is a big signal as well.

‘We need new leaders, more leaders for the dressing room, to set our standards that we want on the training pitch, in difficult moments in the game. I think this is crucial.

‘Yesterday, conversations again with the club and you can really trust me, I’m very clear, especially also after the last three weeks, what we need to be top, top, top.’

Rohl admitted he was grateful for the support from the board as he looked to plot the way ahead for next season.

He added: ‘I think this is a great thing. There’s not just one person around me, there are more people around me, everyone supports me really well and we are really honest with each other.

‘It’s not that we are lying or we make it better than it is, we know exactly the realities at the moment. Three defeats in three important games where we couldn’t deliver and from this point we have to go forward. It’s important that we have a strong finish.’

Rohl is hoping that right-back Tavernier will get a good send-off from the Gers support despite the gloom and doom that surrounds the club.

He said: ‘Hopefully, even in this situation, it’s not the easiest one, we can create a great goodbye for him — I think he deserves it.

‘He did a lot of things for the club, a long, long time here, and he loves the club. I really respect him and I think it’s important that he gets a good goodbye from all of us.’
