The good news keeps coming for Los Angeles Rams safety Quentin Lake.
One day after Rams coach Sean McVay opened up the possibility of Lake returning from an elbow injury to play for Los Angeles in the postseason, the 26-year-old UCLA product has now agreed to a three-year contact extension worth up to $42 million.
As confirmed to the Daily Mail by Lake’s agent, Clarity Football’s Jason Bernstein, the deal includes $25.7 million in guarantees. ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler was the first to report the extension.
Lake’s girlfriend, model Emma Lynn, responded to the news online, writing: ‘So proud of you baby.’
A sixth-round pick in 2022, Lake has outperformed his rookie contract by becoming a starter, a defensive captain and major contributor for a vastly improved unit in Los Angeles.
Lake had one interception, 10 pass deflections, one forced fumble, a sack and 61 tackles across 10 games this season before dislocating his elbow against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 11 and being placed on injured reserve.

The Rams plan to open Lake’s 21-day practice window in hopes of seeing him return for LA’s playoff opener next week.
Despite ranking 17th in scoring defense and 26th in yards allowed last season, the Rams defense is improved in 2025. Significantly, they’ve had 24 takeaways this season, ranking fifth among NFL teams.
Lake is the son of former Pro Bowl defensive back and Pittsburgh Steelers star Carnell Lake.
The elder Lake primarily played safety but was forced into cornerback duties in 1995 after Hall of Famer Rod Woodson suffered a season-ending knee injury. Despite playing out of position, Carnell Lake still earned Pro Bowl honors as the Steelers went on to play in Super Bowl XXX, where they fell to the Dallas Cowboys.
Carnell later spent seven years as a defensive backs coach in Pittsburgh.
