Scores of demonstrators clashed with riot police on the streets of Southampton after a protest for murdered teenager Henry Nowak descended into anger.
Footage shows police attempting to contain the crowd in residential streets, pushing back with riot shields and pepper spray as they were pelted with bricks and wheelie bins, following a demonstration outside Southampton Central police station on Tuesday evening.
Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood condemned the ‘completely unacceptable’ scenes, posting on social media: “There can be no justification for hijacking this tragedy to stir up violence and disorder. Those responsible can expect to face the full force of the law.”
