A Premier League footballer’s father has reportedly been charged with sexual assault following an alleged incident in a Wetherspoon’s pub earlier this year.
The man, who is in his 60s, is said to have touched a woman inappropriately in the establishment, according to a report from The Sun.
Police became involved after a complaint was made in March.
The suspect subsequently handed himself in for questioning and will appear at Sheffield magistrates’ court next month accused of sexual assault.
A source told The Sun: ‘It’s a huge shock for everyone.
‘He was out with family on the night in question and denies any wrongdoing.

‘He has co-operated with the police throughout and has been floored by the decision to charge him.
‘He’s never been in trouble with the police before.’
The publication claims that the man in question – whose son is an international player – was contacted by friends after police released CCTV images as part of an appeal for information.
Police said that the man reportedly approached the woman from behind before touching her inappropriately.
A spokesman for the Crown Prosecution Service confirmed to The Sun that a man had been charged with a single count of sexual assault.
