Pep Guardiola has revealed Manchester City captain Kyle Walker has asked to leave the club.
Walker had been left out of the Man City squad for their dominant 8-0 victory over Salford in the FA Cup third round.
Guardiola revealed post-match that Walker had asked to leave the club two days before the tie.
‘Two days ago, Kyle asked to explore the options to play abroad and end his career,’ Guardiola said.
Walker has managed nine starts in 15 Premier League games for City this season, but has dropped out of the team in recent weeks.
Questions have swirled surrounding Walker’s future in Manchester amidst issues both on and off the field and the right-back has been linked with a potential move to join a Saudi Pro League side.
The six-time Premier League champion signed a fresh three-year deal with the club lasting until 2026 only last year, but could now be set to depart the club.
