New England Patriots star Christian Barmore has had his arraignment for allegedly assaulting the mother of his child postponed until March, meaning he is now clear to play in the Super Bowl.

Defensive tackle Barmore was set to be arraigned on February 3, just five days before his team’s showdown with the Seattle Seahawks in San Francisco.

But his court date has now been delayed until March 9 after a judge approved a request from Barmore’s lawyer on Friday, records seen by the Boston Globe show.

In late December, the 26-year-old was charged with misdemeanor domestic assault and battery after his girlfriend told police he threw her to the ground during an August dispute.

A former second-round pick out of Alabama, the 6ft5, 315-pound Barmore is accused of getting in a physical altercation with his now-former girlfriend over the air temperature in his bedroom.

In his motion requesting the delay, Barmore’s attorney David Meier said he ‘requires additional time to discuss the matter with Mr. Barmore and to properly and responsibly prepare for the arraignment hearing.’

According to a December 18 criminal complaint, the alleged victim called police on August 25 to report Barmore, whom she accused of attacking her on August 8.

The accuser told police she took their daughter into his bedroom that morning, where Barmore angry over the thermostat temperature.

She claimed she told him that their daughter wanted to see him, but Barmore allegedly responded by pickup up the girl and placing her outside of his bedroom door, which he then slammed shut.

Later, she claimed, Barmore took her phone away while she was calling her mother, prompting her to head to the front door to call for help.

As she told police, Barmore ‘grabbed her before she could [get to the door] and threw her to the floor.’

A car provided by the team took the woman and their daughter to Delaware, she told police.

The team has released a statement on the matter, saying officials were aware of the situation when it occurred and did notify the league.

Barmore is not the only Patriots star in legal trouble at the moment, however.

Scandalized Stefon Diggs, the partner of rapper Cardi B, has been accused of felony strangulation or suffocation and misdemeanor assault and battery after an alleged incident involving his personal chef last month.

Through the Patriots, it was revealed Diggs ‘categorically denies’ the allegations against him and as per Mark Daniels of MassLive.com, he added: ‘It’s been an emotional time. It’s definitely an open case so I can’t even say anything about it.’

His arraignment was also moved and is now set for five days after the Super Bowl. It had previously been set for January 23rd.
