Patrick Mahomes’ mom, Randi, had an emotional reaction on Thursday to spotting her late mother in the new Chiefs documentary.
‘The Kingdom’ is now streaming on ESPN+ and Randi caught a glimpse of her mom, Debbie Bates Martin, while watching one of the six episodes.
In one clip posted to Randi’s Facebook page, the quarterback could be seen hugging his grandmother, while she was seen behind him in a home video in another moment.
And Randi was struck by seeing her mother onscreen more than two years after her death in April 2023.
‘My momma Made a cameo on Kingdom tonight!!!,’ Randi wrote on Facebook. ‘Miss her so much!!! I know she’s smiling (well…YELLING LOUD) from Heaven!!
Debbie died at the age of 72 following a series of health issues.

Her passing came a couple of months after Mahomes and the Chiefs beat the 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII, and the star’s family also dealt with more turmoil in the leadup Super Bowl LIX this year.
In late January, Randi announced that her father, Randy, had been moved into hospice care.
‘My dad is in a hospice and I’m lost for words,’ she said at the time.
She had repeatedly spoken on social media about her father and his ill health, but never revealed precisely what the issue is.
Over the holidays, she asked for prayers for her father, and in September shared a picture of herself watching Patrick and the Chiefs play from her dad’s hospital bed.
‘Prayer warriors please pray for my daddy,’ she wrote on September 13 as the Chiefs played the Los Angeles Chargers. ‘He is in the hospital and is not well.’
Five days after Kansas City’s Super Bowl loss to the Eagles, Randi announced that her father had passed away.
‘Hard to find the words of holding my fathers hand as he goes to Heaven,’ Randi Mahomes wrote alongside a series of photos of her father on February 14.
‘I know he’s in a better place. I love you daddy. Well done, good and faithful servant.’

Mahomes and the Chiefs are preparing for another season following their devastating 40-22 loss in the Super Bowl at the hands of the Eagles – which prevented an historic three-peat.
The two-time MVP played sparingly in Kansas City’s preseason loss to the Cardinals on Saturday, and will likely not see the field much more ahead of the team’s season opener next month.
The Chiefs will travel to Brazil to face the Chargers on September 5.
