Lessons in Lifestyle

Panera is putting new limits on its beverage subscription, officially dropping the “Unlimited” branding and capping the number of drinks members can redeem each month.

Beginning August 19, the company’s Unlimited Sip Club subscription service will be renamed MyPanera + Sip Club. While the price remains unchanged at $14.99 per month or $119.99 annually, members will now be limited to 30 self-service beverage redemptions per month, ending the program’s previously unlimited offering.

The new monthly cap applies even during months with 31 days. In addition to the redemption limit, Panera is keeping its existing rule that allows members to claim one eligible beverage every two hours.

The subscription continues to cover a range of self-serve drinks, including drip hot coffee, hot tea, iced coffee, iced tea, fountain sodas and bubbler beverages. However, specialty made-to-order drinks and the chain’s newer premium coffee offerings are not included in the membership.

Despite the changes, several membership perks will remain in place. Subscribers will still receive free refills while dining inside Panera restaurants, $0 delivery fees on eligible orders and an extra birthday week treat as part of the program.

Panera’s beverage subscription has been around for six years, starting in 2020 as a coffee-only perk before expanding in 2022 into the Unlimited Sip Club, which gave members unlimited access to drinks like iced coffee, teas, lemonades and fountain beverages.

Other recently announced changes at Panera include the chain’s summer menu, which introduces a new Market Bowls category featuring three chef-inspired options: Sesame Ginger Chicken, Carnitas Elote and All-In Veggie. The bowls start at $9.99 and are available in half and whole portions, with upgraded ingredients like seasoned chicken, slow-roasted pork, brown rice, arugula and new dressings.

Panera also expanded its salad lineup with new premium choices, including Ultimate Garden Steak, Shrimply Baja and Farmhouse Crunch. The Shrimply Baja salad marks the return of shrimp to the menu after about a decade.

The summer update added new beverages, including Frozen Javas, Café Blend Iced Coffees in flavors like Snickerdoodle, Hazelnut Mocha and Rocky Road, plus new drinks such as an Island Mango Energy Refresher and Blackberry Hibiscus Herbal Iced Tea.

Two new breakfast frittatas, Broccoli Cheddar and Five Cheese & Bacon, also hit the menu as the chain leans into more protein-packed options.
