Fans are reacting with shock and awe over a food offering at this weekend’s Miami Grand Prix that takes a classic American sports concessions staple to an unreasonable length.
The Miami Grand Prix has become notorious for its expensive seats and tastes as drivers continue to race around a track that surrounds the Miami Dolphins’ Hard Rock Stadium.
But a Miami-based sandwich chain is taking that elegance to the next level with a trio of hundred-dollar offerings highlighted by its use of edible gold.
The restaurant Chèvre Miami is collaborating with TV personality Jonathan Cheban – also known as ‘Foodgod’ – and Golden Goat Caviar to create a ‘Golden Glizzy’ hot dog.
The item, which sells for an eyewatering $100, is an Australian Wagyu beef hot dog topped with Crème fraîche, 30 grams of classic Ossetra caviar, chives and flakes of 24 karat gold.
If that wasn’t enough, an upgraded version of the item dubbed the ‘Foodgod edition’ features more expensive almas caviar and goes for $150.

If paying that much for a hot dog doesn’t make sense to you, there’s the option of a $125 steak sandwich known as the ‘Gold Digger’ available for purchase.
This sandwich made of Wagyu beef bresaola is topped with Golden Goat caviar, confit onions and crispy onions, 24 karat gold flakes and black Perigord truffle mayo.
During race week, the restaurant is also offering a combo deal with the ‘Golden Glizzy’ hot dogs and Gold Digger sandwiches where you could get two of each (or one hot dog and one sandwich) for $195.
If that’s still too much, the restaurant also offers a caviar-covered bite of Basque cheesecake being sold for $30.
Fans went wild on social media over the outrageous item and its high prices.
‘I’ll stick with my $1.50 Costco [hot dog emoji],’ said one user on Instagram. Another called the offering, ‘Absolutely tone deaf.’
Another said, ‘That’s an electric bill right there.’ One comment joked, ‘Who do they think they are, FIFA?’
‘If you would buy this i have some blinker fluid to sell you,’ read another joking comment.
Lewis Hamilton and the rest of the F1 grid return to action after a lengthened spring break
Cheban, who helped design the items, is close with the Kardashian sisters. This comes at a time where Kim Kardashian, 45, has been romantically linked to Ferrari driver and F1 legend Lewis Hamilton, 41.
Hamilton and the rest of the grid will begin the calendar of race proceedings on Friday afternoon with FP1 before qualifying for the sprint race later in the day.
The sprint race and qualifying for the main grand prix takes place on Saturday before lights go out at 4:00pm ET on Sunday.
It’s the first racing the drivers will take part in since the Japanese Grand Prix in late March.
The longer break comes after the Bahrain Grand Prix and the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, which were scheduled for mid-April, were cancelled due to the ongoing war in Iran.
