Soap star Jennifer Harmon, best known for her roles in “One Life to Live” and “How to Survive a Marriage,” died last Friday. She was 82.

Harmon’s family confirmed her death via a memorial website, which features multiple pictures and heartfelt memories of the late actress.

A memorial service for Harmon has yet to be scheduled, according to the site.

Harmon was born Dec. 3, 1943, in Pasadena, California, and was raised in New Orleans. She attended both the University of Mississippi and the University of Michigan.

After moving to New York City, Harmon began her career on Broadway in 1965, appearing in a revival of “You Can’t Take It With You.”

Other Broadway productions she took part in over the years included “The Cherry Orchard,” “The Wild Duck,” “The School for Scandal,” “The Sisters Rosensweig,” “The Deep Blue Sea,” “The Dinner Party,” “The Glass Menagerie,” “Seascape” and “Other Desert Cities.”

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Harmon was an understudy for stars like Stockard Channing, Judi Dench, Jessica Lange, Marian Seldes and Blythe Danner.

Harmon’s first soap role was as divorced alcoholic Christine in “How to Survive a Marriage,” which aired on NBC from 1974 to 1975.

The following year, she began starring as Cathy Craig Lord in ABC’s “One Life to Live.”

Harmon was the fifth actress to play Cathy, after Catherine Burns, Amy Levitt, Jane Alice Brandon and Dorrie Kavanaugh.

The role earned Harmon a nomination for a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in 1978, the same year she left the show. She lost to “Another World” star Laurie Heineman.
