Ticket registration for the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles has hit a record number in the wake of the momentum of the Winter Games in Milan-Cortina this month.

Following the 2026 Winter Olympics, which saw Team USA claim 33 medals, including 12 gold, more than five million people have registered for ticket access to the next summer edition of the Games in just over two years’ time.

The 2028 Olympics, which will return to US soil for the first time since the 1996 Atlanta Games, have already attracted widespread interest from across the globe.

The organizing committee said fans from all 50 states and 194 countries across six continents have signed up.

Amid what a spokesperson called ‘a powerful indicator of the momentum building toward 2028,’ ticket access is averaging about 100,000 new registrations per day.

‘We are grateful for the millions of people who have expressed interest in joining us in LA in 2028, where more of these stories and dreams will come to life,’ Reynold Hoover, LA28 chief executive officer, said via the New York Post.

And there is still time for that number to rise. Fans can still seize their chance to witness the sporting extravaganza, with registration for the first ticket draw remaining open through March 18 at tickets.la28.org.

Hopeful fans must be registered by this date for a chance to secure a time slot for the first ticket release window, scheduled for April 9–19. Fans who register by March 18 will be notified of their time slots between March 31 and April 7.

Registered and eligible Los Angeles local residents may also qualify for a presale from April 2–6.

Those who do not reach the 12-ticket maximum will automatically be entered into future draws.

Pricing will vary by sport, session and venue, with some tickets starting at as little as $28 and around one-third costing less than $100.

Meanwhile, Paralympic ticket sales are set to begin in 2027, with additional ticket releases planned as the Games approach.

The LA Games are set to be the biggest in Olympic history, with 36 sports and 51 disciplines taking place across the fortnight.

Embracing the American spirit, baseball will be returning to the lineup for the first time since the Tokyo 2020 Games, while flag football will be making its debut on the Olympics stage.

The Olympic Opening Ceremony will take place on July 14, 2028, and the Closing Ceremony on July 30, 2028.
