Ofcom is to investigate GB News over the broadcast of an interview with Donald Trump.

The regulator will probe an episode of The Weekend, presented by Dawn Neesom, which aired at 12pm on 15 November.

The show featured an interview with the US president, conducted by GB News presenter Bev Turner.

An Ofcom spokesperson said: “We are investigating whether it breached our rules on due impartiality and material misleadingness.”

The communications watchdog confirmed in February that it would not probe an episode of The Late Show Live, presented by Turner and broadcast at 12am on 15 November 2025, in which Mr Trump said London had “no-go areas” for police.

It will now investigate the airing of the interview 12 hours later in Neesom’s programme.

Ofcom takes into account content and contextual factors in each programme when considering investigations.

The broadcaster said: “GB News is surprised and concerned by Ofcom’s delayed decision to investigate in circumstances where it had already published an ‘assessed, not pursued’ finding in relation to the original broadcast of the interview and issued a public statement explaining why the original programme complied with the Broadcasting Code.

“Ofcom’s U-turn over the repeat of the interview with US president Donald Trump follows adverse commentary around its original decision by prominent critics of both Ofcom and GB News.

“The sequence of events inevitably raises questions around the rationale for reopening the matter at this stage. It also raises serious concerns around regulatory certainty, procedural fairness and the consistency of Ofcom’s processes.

“GB News stands firmly by its journalism and editorial standards.”
