Veteran wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr is edging closer to a remarkable return to the NFL with the New York Giants, according to multiple reports.
Beckham Jr, now 33, has been out of the league since having his contract with the Miami Dolphins terminated in December 2024, and he spent six weeks of last season suspended for violating the league’s performance-enhancing drugs policy.
While many believed his time in the NFL to be over, it appears increasingly likely that he will make a shock return, and it is understood he took part in a physical with the Giants on Monday morning.
The team’s offseason workout program began today, and trainers welcomed a familiar face back into the building, eight years after he left in 2018.
According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, ‘a reunion seems possible’, while Adam Schefter shared a coincidental quirk of a potential new contract.
On X, he wrote: ‘The Giants drafted Dexter Lawrence with the pick they acquired from Cleveland for Odell Beckham Jr. Now Lawrence has been traded to the Bengals, and Beckham is back in the Giants’ building.’

The 33-year-old receiver recently thrust himself back into the spotlight during the Saudi-funded Flag Football event, with NFL insider Jordan Schultz reporting that he received ‘renewed interest’ in the aftermath of the March game.
His superb showing on the day, which included a breathtaking one-handed touchdown over a defender and several nice grabs, seemingly proved to a number of teams that he still has what it takes to flourish in the league.
Beckham Jr was first drafted by the Giants with the No 12 overall pick in 2014, and he was named the Offensive Rookie of the Year after a brilliant first season.
He shot to fame in Week 12 of his first season with a one-handed touchdown catch on Sunday Night Football against the Cowboys, a play which has since gone down in history as one of the greatest in the history of the league.
Beckham Jr opted to leave the Big Apple after the 2018 season, going on to spend two full seasons in Cleveland with the Browns.
Controversy surrounded him in the 2021 season and he was waived by the team in the wake of a social media outburst by his father, who hit out at the way the team was using his son in its offense, accusing then-QB Baker Mayfield of not passing to him.
He signed a one-year deal with the Rams, going on to score a touchdown in the Super Bowl to help the team beat the Cincinnati Bengals.
In the same game he suffered a torn ACL and did not re-sign with the Rams during the offseason, later agreeing a deal with the Ravens.
He last played for the Dolphins in the 2024 season, before having his contract terminated

After a year in Baltimore he headed to Miami – his most recent team – but his one-year contract was curtailed early, with both parties agreeing to mutually part ways in December 2024.
Beckham Jr has also made plenty of headlines away from the NFL field, in part due to a series of high-profile rumored romances with the likes of Kim Kardashian, Zendaya and Iggy Azalea.
In 2022, he was forcibly removed from a flight in Miami after allegedly being found unresponsive before takeoff.
Beckham Jr said he was asleep, and he was never charged with a crime.
