Popular singer-songwriter Noah Kahan has issued a plea to fans after an unsavory incident at a recent concert.

Amid recent debates about the fringe practice of concertgoers wearing adult nappies – in a bid to avoid losing their spot at the front of the crowd – a Kahan gig this week saw one audience member forego the measure entirely.

A video that went viral on TikTok showed the obscene aftermath after a fan seemingly defecated on the floor near the front of his recent performance in Philadelphia.

Kahan, who is best known for his hit single “Stick Season”, addressed the incident on X/Twitter on Saturday (28 June).

“If you have to poop at a show please dear god just go to the bathroom lmao,” he wrote.

“I’ve pooped my pants as much as the next 29 year old but you guys gotta understand there’s a venue worker out there with a 1000 yard stare after dealing with that.”

Kahan’s comments come just days after pop star Olivia Rodrigo admitted that she had “smelled” concertgoers in the front row who had opted to wear adult nappies.

The musician was talking to presenters Chloe Burrows and Tyler West during an appearance on KISS Radio when she made the revelation, noting: “I have been to certain concerts and certain festivals where people wear diapers so that they can be front row of the show, and that’s been an experience as a performer that I have… smelled.”

Alluding to a similar practice undertaken by some attendees of the annual Times Square New Year’s Eve ball drop, Rodrigo added: “Everyone is wearing diapers… they sit there all day. I think about it kind of often… it’s a real thing.”

The incident marks the second time this week that Kahan has called up his fans on etiquette.

In an Instagram Story, Kahan brought up a criminal trend that arose from his his 2022 song “The View Between Villages”.

On the final track of his third studio album Stick Season, Kahan sings of his New England hometown: “Passed Alger Brook Road, I’m over the bridge. A minute from home, but I feel so far from it.”

As a result, fans have taken to repeatedly stealing the sign for the aforementioned street, causing problems for local residents.

Kahan wrote: “To fans traveling to the upper valley, I’ve been informed that the Alger Brook Road sign in Strafford has been repeatedly stolen. It is a total disrespect to the folks who live on that road and a headache for the town to deal with.

“I used to live on Alger Brook. I hate that because I put the road name in a song that some people have taken that as an invitation to disrupt the lives of the hardworking and kind folks who frequent it.”

Kahan made a promise to the residents and “select board members” to “pay for any replacements”, adding that he is open to “any potential solutions you can think of”.

“I’m really sorry you’re dealing with this,” he continued. “Again, to my fans: This community has grown much larger and for that reason I feel l should again remind you all about how deeply protective l am over my family’s privacy, and of the sanctuary of where I am from. Please don’t disturb these places or people.”
