Mario Kart World is the Nintendo Switch 2’s first title
The game launches on “the same day as Nintendo Switch 2”, but Nintendo doesn’t say when this is. More details about the game will be released at an upcoming Mario Kart World Nintendo Direct.

Nintendo kicks things off with Mario Kart World
Nintendo isn’t hanging about. The Direct kicks off with our first proper look at Mario Kart World, the next big entry in the series coming to Switch 2.
It looks bigger, faster and wilder than ever – with new vehicles, sprawling tracks and what looks like full 24-player races.
An exclusive game for the Switch 2, you’ll be able to race off-track and go virtually wherever for the first time.

Nintendo is streaming in 4K
Interestingly, Nintendo is streaming the entire Nintendo Direct in 4K – something the gaming giant has never done before. A hint at what’s to come?

45 minutes to go!
We’re now just 45 minutes away from the start of the Nintendo Direct, where Nintendo will finally lift the lid on the Nintendo Switch 2.
The stream goes live at 2pm BST – you can watch it below, and I’ll be covering every announcement as it happens right here.
I’ve been covering the leaks and rumours around the Switch 2 since the OLED model dropped in 2021, so I’m really excited to see what actually comes to fruition today. Not long to go now.

UK retailer provides Nintendo Switch 2 price, and it’s higher than expected
Yesterday, UK independent games retailer Simply Games quietly added a listing for the Nintendo Switch 2. While the front-end of the site shows the price as “TBC”, a look at the back-end reveals a price of £499.99.
That’s a lot steeper than most analysts have been predicting. Most estimates have hovered around the £330 to £360 mark, so this listing definitely raised a few eyebrows. I’m really hoping it’s just a placeholder and not a sign of what’s to come – especially if Nintendo is still trying to keep the console within a more family-friendly price point.

A Nintendo fan made their own Switch 2 bingo card – and it’s brilliant
A Nintendo fan has made their own fun little bingo card for today’s Switch 2 reveal, and it might actually be pretty spot on.
A new 3D Mario? is pretty much nailed-on, “Switch 2 Edition” games have also been referenced already by Nintendo in the fine print of its Virtual Game Cards, so I’d say that’s more than likely too. And the idea of a June launch lines up with everything I’ve heard. Plus Mario Kart’s a given, based on the teaser footage we’ve seen already

Nintendo Switch 2 release date
With pre-orders rumoured to open either later today or next week, when will the console actually turn up on your door?
We’re sure to find out during the Nintendo Direct, but we’ve also got some rumours to go off.
Back in January, insider Nate the Hate was the first to correctly predict the Switch 2’s reveal on 16 January. On his podcast, he suggested we could see a full launch in May or June, a theory backed by VGC and others in the industry.
Personally, I think Nintendo’s global hands-on strategy gives us a bit more to go on. These demo days are happening across April, May and June, and the final one wraps up on 1 June in Seoul. That feels intentional.
I’d say we’re looking at a launch in the first week of June, but that’s just my own speculation.
