Salford City have signed Under-20 World Cup winner Nicolas Siri on loan for the season.
The 21-year-old joins from Uruguayan side Montevideo City Torque, part of the City Football Group.
Siri made his senior debut in the Uruguayan First Division at the age of 16, playing for Danubio and later that same season became the youngest player to score a hat-trick in his country’s top flight.
He was in the squad for the Under-20 World Cup in 2023 and he appeared as a substitute in every game of the tournament except the final, in which Uruguay beat Italy.
In January, after scoring 12 goals in 56 games in the Uruguayan top-flight, Siri joined Montevideo’s sister club Lommel in Belgium and scored twice in 10 appearances in the second division.
