The Indianapolis Colts have placed former All-Pro cornerback Xavien Howard on the reserve/retired list – indicating that the veteran defensive player is calling it a career.
Howard signed a deal with the Colts back in August after missing the entire 2024 season.
He played and started in each of his team’s games this season – recovering a fumble against his former team, the Miami Dolphins, in Week 1.
Howard had been struggling in recent weeks – allowing seven completions on ten targets for 112 yards and a touchdown against the Los Angeles Rams in Week 4.
When asked if his play had been at an acceptable level, Howard admitted that his performance was ‘Not to my ability.’
Howard was a second-round pick to the Dolphins out of Baylor in 2016 and made an instant impact for Miami’s defensive secondary.
