A court battle involving Newcastle United and their former owner Mike Ashley has been settled, a report has claimed.
Ashley, 60, was in charge of the Magpies from 2007 to 2021 when Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund took over — and last year failed in his bid to sell the club’s shirts in his stores for the following season.
The Sports Direct chief took his former club to court after being banned from selling the jerseys, lodging a £1.5million claim against the Magpies.
The ban came after Newcastle agreed only to sell the shirts in their official store, adidas and JD Sports.
Newcastle’s triumphant Carabao Cup victory over Liverpool last week, which brought an end to the club’s 70-year trophy drought, will only add to the number of fans looking to buy the jerseys.
According to the Sun, Newcastle, adidas and JD Sports have now reached a confidential agreement with Ashley’s Sports Direct, called a ‘Tomlin Order’.

The order is legally binding, should either party fail to adhere to the agreement.
Ashley received widespread criticism for his work as owner of Newcastle, with the north east outfit now flourishing after winning their first domestic trophy since 1955 under Eddie Howe.
Despite heading to Wembley as the underdogs against Liverpool, the Magpies took the lead through Dan Burn before doubling it in the second half through star striker Alexander Isak.
Federico Chiesa pulled one back for Arne Slot’s side in stoppage time to set up a nervy final few minutes for the Magpies supporters, but Howe’s side held on to end their trophy drought.
