The New York Giants have moved to add more depth to their quarterback room ahead of head coach John Harbaugh’s first campaign with the team.
Journeyman signal caller Brandon Allen has joined the team – his seventh since being drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars back in 2016.
The 33-year-old comes in and replaces Russell Wilson, who leaves after just one ill-fated year with the Giants.
He began last season as the starter but the team drafted Jaxson Dart in the first round and fans were pretty quickly demanding the rookie became their starter after a rocky start.
They got their wish in Week 4 after a 0-3 start and later in the campaign, Wilson was overlooked for Jameis Winston when Dart entered concussion protocol.
Wilson only signed a one-year deal in New York and is now a free agent, prompting Harbaugh to move to pad out his quarterback room.

Russell Wilson, who began 2025 as the Giants starter, has since left the organization
After being drafted by the Jaguars, Allen has also played for Los Angeles Rams, Denver Broncos, Cincinnati Bengals, San Francisco 49ers and most recently, Tennessee Titans.
Allen will find a familiar face in his new setup – the former Titans head coach Brian Callahan is the quarterbacks coach at the Giants.
Furthermore, the Giants offense in general is getting a refresh with offensive coordinator Matt Nagy leaving the Kansas City Chiefs to take the equivalent role in New York.
The Giants offense will be a fascinating watch in 2026. Dart underlined his abilities while Cam Skattebo emerged as an exciting prospect at running back.
Malik Nabers, the star wide receiver, tore his ACL early on but is expected to be ready for the new season in September.
For the time being, the Giants will focus their attention on next week’s draft, where they hold the fifth pick in the first round.
