The New York Giants fear that wide receiver Gunner Olszewski is out of the 2026 season after potentially tearing his Achilles in practice on Friday.

The 29-year-old went down with a non-contact injury during practice and needed to be carted off the field after teammates had gathered around him near the end of a two-hour practice session,

He will now undergo further examinations and testing but the early fears are that he has sustained an injury that will end his season before it had even started.

‘We’ll find out the situation,’ was all that head coach John Harbaugh would say.

Olszewski would be the third Giants player to have torn his Achilles this offseason, an alarming trend for the team.

Defensive tackle Roy Robertson-Harris suffered the same fate last week after undrafted rookie Thaddeus Dixon also tore his Achilles.

Olszewski has been with the Giants since 2023 and his injury is also a blow to new head coach Harbaugh in what is starting to become a problem position.

The team already have enough worry at wide receiver with Malik Nabers recovering from a torn ACL.

Nabers had to have a second procedure on his right knee to remove scar tissue that was causing stiffness.

Darius Slayton is also sidelined at present as he recovers from hernia sugery. The team have been linked with bringing Odell Beckham Jr back on a one-year deal.

The Giants are hopeful, rather than confident, that the impressive Nabers will be ready to play in Week 1 against the Dallas Cowboys.

But for Olszewski, it sounds like it will be a different story. He had only agreed a one-year deal with the Giants back in March, worth $1.4m with $300,000 guaranteed.

Last season, he showed tentative signs of a connection with quarterback Jaxson Dart, catching 10 passes from 13 targets for a touchdown and 145 yards.
