You can’t blame Ewen Murray for considering future after witnessing such vile abuse at the Ryder Cup. If that’s a taste of things to come, who would even want to play in it?!

Netflix is continuing its push to improve its live sports coverage and is reportedly eyeing a huge move for ESPN and Marquee Sports Network rising star Taylor McGregor.

McGregor is one of sports media’s biggest talents and was on the sidelines for Miami’s Cotton Bowl victory over Ohio State on New Year’s Day.

Front Office Sports reports that, while no deal has yet been signed, Netflix is keen to sign her up as its next big sports hire after Elle Duncan.

McGregor is known for her work on the sideline in college football, regularly interviewing coaches and players up and down the country.

She also holds a similar role for Major League Baseball and hosts shows for Marquee in Chicago, where she is based.

FOS reports that Netflix is currently speaking to ‘multiple talents from legacy sports TV networks’, quoting a source.

McGregor would be allowed to join Netflix while also continuing to work for ESPN, per her contract, but the Bristol execs aren’t keen to ‘share’ their talent with other networks.

Netflix is scheduled to broadcast the Yankees’ trip to San Francisco on MLB’s Opening Night in March, and McGregor would likely be a shoo-in for that broadcast if her contract is signed in time.

In November, it also sealed rights for MLB’s Home Run Derby and the 2026 Field of Dreams game between the Twins and Phillies, paying out an estimated $50 million a year for those two and the Opening Night game.

Netflix also has exclusive US rights to the 2027 and 2031 Women’s World Cup soccer tournaments, and is continuing to expand its reach in boxing and WWE.

Ex-ESPN anchor Duncan, meanwhile, is set to make her Netflix debut later this month when she hosts a two-hour live event titled ‘Skyscraper Live’.

The broadcast will show solo climber Alex Honnold trying to climb the tallest building in Taiwan.
