Nelly Korda moved into contention as Alison Lee and Ruoning Yin grabbed a share of the halfway lead at the Women’s US Open at Riviera Country Club in Los Angeles.

Hometown hope Lee fired a second round lead 68 to move to four under par alongside China’s Yin, one of only two players without a bogey on Friday and the only one to break 70 on both days after a second 69.

“I love it,” Yin said of playing a tricky course. “I always say that the more difficult (the course), the better.”

Overnight leader Jennifer Kupcho fired a 73 to sit in a six-strong group one shot off the lead.

World No 1 Korda is two strokes off the lead after a 67, the lowest round of the day.

England’s Lottie Woad birdied the 16th hole to make the weekend on the cut mark after a second 73, one stroke behind compatriot Charley Hull.
