With our sights set on summer, sipping one of the best rosé wines is how many of us will enjoy the season. Now a thriving industry, wine makers are satisfying our love for the blushed wine with supermarkets even boasting affordable alternatives to high-end plonks.

Joining the likes of Etna Rosato (£14.95, Marksandspencer.com) and La Balconne organic Provence rose (£16, Ocado.com), some of its most popular rosé wines, M&S has introduced a cloudy rose to its selection. Even better for summer sipping, it’s ideal for picnics, according to an expert.

Unfiltered and unfined, the M&S trouble cloudy rose is naturally cloudy and still. It’s caught the attention of rosé lovers and wine experts, including wine influencer Candace, otherwise known as TikToker @this.wine.woman, who dubbed the bottle as “so delicious for taking on a picnic”.

Made by French ex-international rugby player turned wine maker Gérard Bertrand, the wine is organic, vegan and priced at £12.50 a bottle.

If that sounds up your street, here’s everything you need to know about the bottle of plonk.

The wine is slowly fermented using hand‑harvested grapes, which are pressed at cool temperatures which helps to keep the flavours bright.

Likening it to a kombucha combined with a wine, expert Candace says it’s very funky on the nose with the yeasty flavour you might expect from a pet nat. Meanwhile, there are the usual strawberry and raspberry aromas that’d you expect from a summer rosé.

On the palate, she explains the finish is very tart and dry. “It’s not for your light Provence rose purists,” she warns but if you enjoy a fermented drink, the funkier flavours will stand up to food better than purer roses because it’s got “quite a lot going on”.
