More than 350,000 units of iron-containing vitamins and dietary supplements sold nationwide are being recalled after being distributed without child-resistant safety caps.

The recall affects multiple brands manufactured by Vitaquest International, including Arey, Bari Life, Bird&Be, Biote, Dr. Fuhrman, NuLife, HMR, Bariatric Pal, Noevir, Zenbean and Sakara, the Consumer Product Safety Commission announced Thursday.

Many of the affected products were marketed toward specific groups, including prenatal vitamins for pregnant women and multivitamins designed for children.

The child-resistant packaging failure violates requirements under the federal Poison Prevention Packaging Act, according to the CPSC. Because iron can be highly toxic if ingested in large amounts, especially by young children, the lack of proper safety caps creates what regulators said poses a risk of serious injury or death from poisoning if the contents are swallowed by young children.

The affected supplements may have been sold at major retailers such as The Vitamin Shoppe, Ulta Beauty, Credo Beauty and other health stores, as well as online through Amazon, brand websites and medical offices. The products were sold over a nearly three-year period from April 2023 through February 2026, with prices ranging from about $13 to $130 depending on the brand and formulation.

Consumers who purchased the affected supplements are urged to immediately store them out of reach of children.

Customers can contact the company toll-free at 844-298-4545 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET, Monday through Friday, by email at [email protected] or online at https://vitaquest.com/product-recall-information/ or by visiting www.vitaquest.com and clicking “Recall” at the bottom of the page.
