The Ministry of Defence has released footage of the moment a British warplane shoots down a drone over Jordan.
Footage posted online by the MoD shows RAF F-35B Lightnings, operating over Jordanian airspace, shoot down uncrewed aerial systems in defence of Jordan. This marks the first time a British F-35 has destroyed a target on operations.
The jets were supported by RAF Typhoons and a Voyager air-to-air refuelling aircraft.
A British counter-drone team also intercepted un-crewed aerial vehicles in Iraqi airspace that were heading towards Coalition forces, protecting UK personnel operating in the area.
The MoD said the operations form part of the UK’s broader commitment to regional security and to protect personnel and allies.
