Mohamed Salah will leave Liverpool at the end of the season.
The 33-year-old, who joined the Anfield club from Roma in 2017, confirmed the news in an emotional video uploaded to his Instagram account on Tuesday night.
The Premier League champions also issued their own statement in response to Salah’s announcement, saying an agreement had been reached with the attacker to end his ‘remarkable’ nine-year stint in Merseyside when the season ends.
‘Hello everyone,’ he said in an emotional video. ‘Unfortunately the day has come. This is the first part of my farewell. I will be leaving Liverpool at the end of the season.
‘I wanted to start by saying that I never imagined how deeply this club, this city, these people, would become part of my life.
‘Liverpool is not just a football club. It’s a passion, it’s a history, it’s a spirit I can’t explain in words.’
