Guardians star Austin Hedges celebrated Cleveland’s win over the Orioles on Sunday by proposing to his partner on the field.
The World Series winner, 33, scored the first run of the game as the Guardians secured an 8-4 win over Baltimore at Progressive Field and then he popped the question to girlfriend, Lexi Dickinson.
Many teammates looked on as a message appeared on the stadium jumbotron. It read: ‘Lexi will you marry me?’
Hedges then got down on one knee and Dickinson – who works as an aesthetic nurse practitioner – said yes, sparking emotional celebrations on the field.
The couple began dating in November 2024 and Hedges revealed that he has had the ring since ‘early spring training.’
‘I was just trying to figure out when the right time was,’ the catcher said. It wasn’t until ‘a couple of weeks ago’ that he nailed down his plan to ask for Dickinson’s hand in marriage on the field – win or lose.

I was going to do it regardless… but I really wanted to win that game to make it extra special,’ he said.
Hedges confessed there were ‘a lot of nerves’ ahead of what proved a ‘special day.’
‘I’m always nervous for baseball games, but just trying to stay present, knowing there were some activities after made it harder,’ he added. ‘It was a special day. A special day to be able to soak it all in.’
While Dickinson remained on the diamond, where she was congratulated by friends and partners of other Guardians players, Hedges took a quick shower and changed into a stylish maroon suit.

‘Now, we’re going to go to dinner and then just have a night to ourselves and enjoy it,’ said the 33-year-old catcher, who is in his 12th major league season.
On social media, though, the reveal didn’t go down quite as expected, with many fans claiming he should have put more effort into the gesture.
‘Take a shower’, one wrote, while another added: ‘Who proposes to their girlfriend when they’re at work??’
A third said: ‘Dude is worth a few million and that’s how he does it?’
