Baseball fans were shocked by the rather strange and uncommon way Philadelphia Phillies star slugger Bryce Harper applies his toothpaste before brushing his teeth.
Harper and the Phillies are on the road in San Diego to take on the Padres at the start of a three-game series and a week-long trip to California.
In a post to TikTok, the 33-year-old showed off part of his oral hygiene routine, which also involved a tongue scraper that Harper described as ‘the grossest thing ever.’
‘But I love it. If you have a chance, you should buy one,’ the first-baseman said.
But what truly shocked baseball fans was the way that Harper got his toothpaste out of the tube.
Harper was seen pushing up from the bottom of the tube before placing the open end directly into his mouth and squeezing out a dollop of toothpaste.

Social media lost their minds and called out Harper for the insane and unhinged way he brushed his teeth.
‘bryce harper with the most abominable toothpaste application i’ve ever seen,’ wrote one user on X.
Another said, ‘this is insane omg ive never seen anyone do this in my life.’
‘I’ve literally never even considered doing this,’ read another comment.
One Phillies fan commented, ‘as an avid bryce harper defender, i’ve got absolutely nothing for this one i’d prefer it be scrubbed from the internet actually.’
‘Bryce Harper’s brain needs to be studied man,’ posted Philly sports writer Sean Barnard. ‘Whatever you are picturing before watching the video it’s worse. Had no idea this was even an option people did.’
Harper has been instrumental in Philadelphia’s turnaround after a poor first full month of the season.
His .274 batting average, 52 hits, 12 home runs and 32 RBI are all good for the second-best mark on the team.
