The Minnesota Vikings are mourning the loss of Doug Martin following the his death at 68.
The ninth-overall pick of the 1980 NFL Draft, Martin would go on to play 10 NFL seasons, earning All-Pro honors and leading the NFL in sacks in 1982.
Although Martin passed away Monday, it wasn’t until hours before Thursday’s NFL Draft that his death was revealed to fans.
Martin is not related to the former Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back of the same name, who died in October.
A former star at the University of Washington, Martin was picked ahead of future Hall of Famers Art Monk, Dwight Stephenson and Steve McMichael, the latter of whom recently passed away after battling ALS.
