In the face of stiff competition, Mike Vrabel has stood firm and guided the New England Patriots to the Super Bowl. If he wins, he might be in a pickle over a promise he made to depart with a specific area of his anatomy in exchange for victory.

During Super Bowl media week, reporters reminded Vrabel of a joke he once made that he’d be willing to cut off his own penis in order to win a title.

Vrabel made the statement on a 2019 appearance of the podcast ‘Bussin With the Boys’ – hosted by former NFL players Will Compton and Taylor Lewan.

At the time, Vrabel was the head coach of the Tennessee Titans – where he coached Lewan – and made the joke.

‘You guys will be married for 20 years one day,’ he said at the time. ‘You won’t need it.’

Cut to 2026 and both Compton and Lewan were on Radio Row and reminded Vrabel of his word before asking him if he was willing to ‘go under anesthesia’ if the Patriots defeated the Seattle Seahawks to win Super Bowl LX.

‘I don’t need anesthesia,’ the 50-year-old Vrabel replied, before making an outrageous joke about the size of his appendage.

‘I mean, I’d probably cut it in half… leave her six,’ he said, leaving the podcast hosts in hysterics.

Vrabel’s initial comment from 2019 about not needing use of his closest friend after a long and healthy marriage to his wife, Jennifer, came with the belief that she wouldn’t mind such a grotesque outcome.

‘She’d be like, “Do you want me to do it? Do you want to do it now?”‘ he joked.

Vrabel has already produced a pair of sons – Tyler, 25 and Carter, 24 – and clearly feels no need to have more children.

This isn’t the first time that the Patriots head coach has addressed his infamous comment from years ago.

On Boston sports talk radio station WEEI in a January 27 appearance on The Greg Hill Show, Vrabel was once again asked if he was willing to lop off a part of his body.

‘Maybe I’ll cut it in half, but I ain’t cutting the whole thing off,’ Vrabel replied.

He added, ‘That was just to get that young fledgling group, Taylor and Will – get them to fly into the podcast game and it took off. I say a lot of things I don’t mean.’

Vrabel is looking to become the first person in NFL history to win Super Bowls as a player and a head coach of the same team. He previously won three titles with the Patriots in the 2000s.

Vrabel does mean business, though. The coach is hoping to win a fourth Super Bowl title with New England and his first in charge of the organization.

If he does so, he’ll become the first person in NFL history to win Super Bowls as a head coach and a player with the same team.

He previously won the Patriots’ first three championships against the St. Louis Rams, the Philadelphia Eagles and the Carolina Panthers.

However, the Seahawks remain favorites for this year’s contest as they look to get revenge for their heartbreaking loss in Super Bowl XLIX.
