The Los Angeles Chargers are expected to hire Mike McDaniel as their new offensive coordinator, according to reports.

McDaniel, who was fired by the Dolphins earlier this month, has interviewed for several head-coaching vacancies after leaving Miami, including with the Cleveland Browns, Las Vegas Raiders, Baltimore Ravens, Atlanta Falcons and Tennessee Titans.

The Falcons have since hired Kevin Stefanski shortly after his own axing by the Browns, while the Titans are set to bring in San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh as their new head coach.

Since his Dolphins dismissal, McDaniel is also understood to have been approached by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Philadelphia Eagles over their respective offensive coordinator positions.

Yet according to ESPN, the 42-year-old has ended discussions with multiple teams after opting to become Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh’s offensive coordinator.

The LA Chargers are expected to hire Mike McDaniel as their new offensive coordinator

McDaniel is understood to be having dinner with Chargers officials in LA on Tuesday night as he edges closer to the move to SoFi Stadium.

While the Bucs and Eagles both held significant interest in making him their new OC, the prospect of coaching star Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert and working under the esteemed Harbaugh proved the most enticing option.

Barring a major change of heart, he is set to be unveiled by the team in the coming days.
