Super Bowl fever is sweeping the nation ahead of Sunday and, for one small town in Massachusetts, the big game could be set to have a major impact.
Fans of both the Seattle Seahawks and the New England Patriots are already touching down in San Francisco in anticipation for the showdown at Levi’s Stadium.
However, while supporters head across the country to watch Super Bowl LX, back in Massachusetts, one small town are making changes to honor the Patriots.
It emerged on Tuesday that the town of Maynard are looking to add an ‘E’ to their name – to become ‘Mayenard’ – in honor of Patriots quarterback Drake Maye.
Maynard Select Board member David Gavin insisted that ‘this is all about having fun, generating excitement and really celebrating the Patriots making another Super Bowl’.
According to reports, Select Board members will undertake a vote on Tuesday night over the matter.

‘We would absolutely love to have Drake Maye visit Maynard, he’s welcome any time,’ Gavin added.
On Monday afternoon, Gavin revealed that the idea was first thought up back in January, as die-hard Patriots fans offered different name suggestions.
‘There were people in our community who started saying, ‘You’ve got to make this happen,’ Gavin revealed. ‘My response at the time was, ‘If they make the Super Bowl,’ never really believing that they would.
Then as each game went along, it kept getting louder: ‘This is something that you really should consider.”
‘We went forward with it and it has turned into a viral sensation far beyond anything that I would have imagined,’ Gavin said. ‘Everybody is excited, everybody is talking about it. It’s just been a positive four or five days where it’s just sort of exploded.’
Maye, meanwhile, recently paid a glowing tribute to his wife Ann Michael ahead of the Super Bowl, saying marrying her ‘was one of the best decisions I made in my life’.
The Patriots quarterback and his wife are fast becoming one of the NFL’s newest power couples and their stardom will rise exponentially if Maye can claim Super Bowl glory against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday.
Ann Michael became an immediate fan favorite when Maye was drafted by New England in 2024 and her stardom has increased in recent months thanks to her heartwarming baking series.
Her viral ‘Bakemas’ TikTok videos thrust her into the spotlight before Christmas and the 22-year-old continued her rise to fame last month when she supported her husband in the AFC Championship game.

Maye met her husband when they were children and they quickly became middle school sweethearts. She graduated from UNC in May 2025 with a degree in business administration.
And Maye was full of praise for his wife’s influence on both his life and football career at the Super Bowl’s opening night on Monday.
He said: ‘Getting married was one of the best decisions I made in my life. I think of my wife and from that day they say good things happen when you get married, and I think that’s the case so far in my life.
‘What a blessing it has been to have Ann Michael and know to come home to someone who cares about my day and able to hear something outside of football, listen to what she’s done today and just knowing there is a constant in my life and that’s my wife’.
